Product Launch Announcement Templates People Can Use

7 min read

A useful product launch announcement names the intended user, explains the task your product helps them finish and shows evidence they can inspect. State what is available, disclose important trial or access conditions and give readers one clear next step. Adapt the message for X, LinkedIn, Reddit and email, then measure relevant visits and product activity alongside engagement.

You finally have a working product. Then you open a blank post and write, "Excited to announce something we've been building."

The reader still has to work out what it does and whether it matters to them.

A useful product launch announcement template helps you answer those questions quickly. Start with the templates below, then replace every placeholder with something your product actually delivers.

Product launch announcement template you can adapt

Name the user, explain the useful outcome, show it working and give one next step. Here is the basic structure:

[Product] is now available for [specific audience]. It helps you [complete a task] without [relevant difficulty].

Here's [demo or example] showing [observable result].

You can try [available version] at [destination]. [Important price, access or compatibility condition].

For an illustrative Mac screenshot app, that becomes:

I built a Mac app for designers preparing client screenshots. Capture a window, hide sensitive details and export the image from one workflow.

Watch the demo: [demo link]. Try the seven-day trial: [product link]. Requires [supported macOS version]; [price] afterward.

The trial and capabilities are fictional examples. Substitute your real offer and remove anything you cannot support.

If access is still limited, use this opening instead: "We're inviting [audience] to test [workflow] in a private beta." Explain selection criteria and timing so readers understand what joining actually gives them today.

Our no-audience launch plan covers building the conversations around this message. This guide focuses on the announcement itself.

Choose the template that matches the channel

Keep the promise consistent and change the context around it. Someone who joined your waitlist already knows more than a stranger scrolling past a post.

ChannelLead withUseful supporting materialNext step
XThe user and resultShort demo or screenshotTry the workflow
LinkedInA recognizable work problemExample and founder contextView the demo or start
RedditA problem relevant to the communitySpecific explanation and limitationsDiscuss or test, where allowed
EmailWhy this recipient is hearing from youAvailable access and starting instructionsOpen the product

Choose one primary action for each message. Asking readers to try the app, subscribe, share and vote at once makes the priority unclear.

X launch post template

Make the first post understandable on its own. X's posting guidance gives the standard post limit as 280 characters. Check the composer after inserting your actual wording and link.

I built [Product] for [audience] who need to [task].

[Concrete capability or result].

Try it: [link]. [Essential access condition].

A filled example:

I built a Mac app for designers sharing client screenshots. Capture a window, hide sensitive details and export the image. Seven-day trial; paid afterward. Demo and download: [link]

Attach a demonstration that shows the promised result. Put setup details or the build story in follow-up posts when needed.

I would avoid opening with several posts about how long development took. Give the reader enough information to decide whether the product deserves their attention first.

For a downloadable product, our Mac app launch guide covers the installation and compatibility details your announcement needs to reflect.

LinkedIn product launch announcement template

Connect the launch to a work situation your intended customer recognizes. Add a short explanation of why you built it and what someone can do now.

[Audience] often has to [task], but [specific obstacle].

I built [Product] to help with that. It lets you [workflow] and finish with [useful output].

In this demo, you'll see [starting point] become [result]. [Relevant limitation].

[Version] is available today. [Offer and conditions].

For the screenshot app, the opening could be:

Preparing client screenshots means checking every image for names, messages and other details that should stay private. I built a Mac app that brings capture, hiding sensitive details and export into one workflow.

Follow that with the actual demonstration and trial terms. Explain any review the user still needs to do before sharing an image.

Treat this as an editorial structure to test with your audience. There is no guaranteed arrangement of line breaks or hashtags that makes a launch succeed.

Reddit launch announcement template

Use this only where the community permits this kind of post. Reddit's spam policy prohibits mass-posting repetitive content for exposure or financial gain and points readers to each community's additional rules.

Title: I built [tool] to help with [specific community-relevant task]

I'm the developer of [Product]. [Explain the problem and your connection to it].

The current version can [capabilities]. Here's an example: [demonstration].

It currently doesn't support [important limitation]. [Price or trial terms].

[Link, only if permitted]. I'm interested in how you currently handle [specific part of the workflow].

For our example, ask how designers check screenshots before client handoffs. Give enough detail for people to discuss that workflow without downloading anything.

Do not disguise an advertisement as a request for feedback. State that you built the product. If a community prohibits promotion, choose another destination or use its designated thread.

Hacker News offers a useful parallel. Its Launch HN instructions recommend factual, personal writing, transparent pricing and a clear statement of what the company does. That guidance is specific to HN, but clarity and honest context are useful editing checks elsewhere.

Product launch email template

Remind subscribers why they are receiving the message, then help them take the first useful action. This template is for people who asked for relevant updates or access.

Subject: [Product] is ready to try

Preview text: [Useful outcome] with [important access detail].

Hi [name],

You joined the [Product] waitlist to [task or benefit]. [Version] is now available.

You can [main workflow]. Here's a short example: [demo].

Start by [first useful task]: [product link].

[Trial duration, price afterward and relevant requirements].

If [likely obstacle] gets in the way, reply and tell me what happened.

[Founder name]

For the screenshot app, the subject could be "Your screenshot app is ready to try." The starting instruction could be "Capture a sample window and export your first image."

Mailchimp's subject-line guidance recommends no more than nine words and 60 characters. It says its helper's recommendations draw on open-rate performance across hundreds of millions of emails. Use that as a starting point, then check your own audience; it does not establish a launch-email conversion benchmark.

Our pre-launch waitlist guide covers the earlier welcome and progress emails. When inviting only a selected batch, say that this recipient has access rather than implying everyone can start.

Edit the message before you publish

Replace vague promises with something a reader can inspect. Evidence can be a working demonstration, a sample output or an accurately described customer result.

Weak draftMore useful replacement
"The ultimate productivity solution"Name the task and intended user
"Save hours every week"Show the workflow; quantify savings only with supporting evidence
"Everyone loves it"Use a permitted, attributed quote with context
"Free to try"State the trial limits and later price

Ask someone unfamiliar with the product to read the announcement. Can they explain who it helps, what it does and what happens after clicking?

Check the destination too. The advertised trial should be available, the demo should match the current version and any important limitation should be visible before someone commits.

For Product Hunt-specific preparation, use our launch guide for founders with no followers. Keep the surrounding announcement focused on the product's value and the action you want readers to take.

Measure the response and write the follow-up

Track relevant visits, first tasks and customer conversations alongside likes and impressions. Record which message and channel brought people, while recognizing that attribution can be incomplete.

Mailchimp explains that bot activity can inflate opens and clicks. Check filtering and product activity before treating an email click as a human trial attempt.

In a hypothetical review, 40 relevant visitors produce eight trial starts and three completed tasks. That is a 20% visitor-to-trial rate for that observed group, not an industry target. Investigate why five trial users stopped before increasing promotion.

Reply to questions and follow up with people who requested access. Share a concrete improvement or new example when you have one. Our 30-day post-launch plan covers that ongoing work.

Before publishing, check the audience, promise, evidence, offer, working destination and one next step. When those are ready, review the FasLaunch launch options and give readers a useful reason to try your product.

Frequently asked questions

What should a product launch announcement include?

+

Include the product name, intended user, problem or task, useful outcome, evidence and one clear next step. Explain what is available now and any important access, compatibility, pricing or trial conditions. Keep the message consistent with the destination page.

How do I announce a product launch with no audience?

+

Start with relevant waitlist subscribers, beta testers and people who have discussed the problem with you. Adapt the announcement for communities where promotion is permitted. Demonstrate a useful task and invite suitable people personally instead of relying on one public post.

How long should a product launch announcement be?

+

Use enough space to explain the product, show relevant evidence and state the next step. A short X post may work for a simple promise; LinkedIn, Reddit and email can provide more context. Check the channel's limits and preview the finished message.

What is a good product launch email subject line?

+

State the product or benefit clearly, such as 'Your screenshot app is ready to try.' Keep the important words near the beginning. Match the subject to the actual offer and use audience-specific testing when you have enough recipients for a useful comparison.

Can I reuse the same launch announcement everywhere?

+

Reuse the core promise, evidence and offer, then adapt the framing. X needs a compact introduction, LinkedIn can explain professional context, Reddit requires community relevance, and email should acknowledge why the recipient is hearing from you.
